This recent solar panel installation in Fareham, Hampshire, is a 2.65kW peak system. We installed 10 x Renesola 265W solar modules to maximise the production from the relatively modest roof space. The inverter that was utilized was a Solar Edge SE3000 and 10 x 300W power optimisers. The solar Edge system was selected to maximise the yield of the array, which was compromised by shading from a neighbouring roof. The way that the system operates is that the panels that are effected by shading are omitted from the circuit or string. On a standard inverter, if panels are shaded they can effectively bring down the generation of the particular string significantly. This has a dramatic effect on the overall system performance. Another advantage of the Solar Edge system, is the comprehensive monitoring package that is available. It is possible to monitor remotely on a smart phone or via a computer.
